BRIDAL HAIR TIPS by Inanch – Q & A

What kind of up-do's suit different face shapes / hair texture?
Up-do's will suit everyone. The most important aspect to remember is that everyone has a different face structure so the bridal hairdresser should create a bespoke 'up-do hairstyle' to suit that person's facial features. For example, those with round faces should have extra height on top. For those with long faces, extra width on sides should be applied to generate a good shape.

How can you help your up-do stay in place all day and night?
If you have straight hair and you want curls it is vital that the hair is set properly and excess amounts of hairspray are applied to keep the hair in place throughout the evening. On a different scale, if you have frizzy hair and want it straight for your special day, you need to ensure that it is blow-dried thoroughly so it stays frizz-free all evening. This is where styling products play an important part!

How do you position your veil?
Positioning of the veil varies depending on your style, the veil itself and the length of your own hair, not forgeting your personal preferences.

How would you describe a classic up-do?
Clean, sharp - Audrey Hepburn style!

What is a modern up-do?
More and more brides are having their hair done in a similar way to their everyday look with perhaps a bit more bounce. It should always be about what will make the individual bride look and feel good hence giving her the confidence she requires for her special day!

How should you want your hair to look on your wedding day?
Healthy and shiny hair is a must! This comes across when you are in the sunshine or in bright lights at your venue, making you look more vibrant and sexy! Go for a style that compliments your everyday hair and personality. That way, you will look and feel ever so confident and relaxed and will therefore enjoy your special day even more!

How can you get your hair ready for your wedding?
You should find a hairdresser well before your wedding day. Consultations are crucial!! Make sure you feel confident in the hairdresser you find. Connecting with your hairdresser and being on the same wave length as him/her is ever so important - you're more likely to achieve the look you're after. I always advise against any drastic changes before your wedding day (such as a colour change or a major cut) as you'll only look back at your photos and think 'my god' I shouldn't have gone for such a drastic cut/colour. Go for a subtle change - that's if you're looking to change your style prior to the wedding. Ask as many questions as possible and make sure you have an 'unrushed' consultation - remember, this is your most special day of your life and one where you'll look back at with the photos and film footage.

Common bridal mistakes
I always emphasize that if you never ever put your hair up, what's the point of doing it on your wedding day? You want to feel like you - this is what will make you feel comfortable and confident on your most special day.

How you should get inspired so you know how you want your hair to look on your wedding day?
Go through as many bridal hair / hair / lifestyle magazines as possible. Cut out the ones you like and also the ones you dislike and take these along to your consultation with your hairdresser. This should give him/her a good starting point of what you're after. Then after the consultation, just keep the photos that you like and keep on looking at these until your next hair trial with your hairdresser. If you're inspired by these photos then you're on the right track. The final part of inspiration is down to your hairdresser on the day of your final hair trial day. Make sure your 100% happy with the trial results!
