Her salon on London’s Great Portland Street offer several hair extension application methods all of which consist of 100% natural human hair extensions, with Great Lengths being the most popular system.
Q. What are hair extensions made of?
A. The best quality hair extensions are those that go unnoticed and are 100% human, 100% remi (where all the hair strands face in the direction of their natural hair growth) and 100% ethically sourced. Great Lengths Hair Extensions are 100% human and is of the highest quality with proceeds going directly into the communities in India where the hair is sourced. As Great Lengths are human hair extensions hair will look, feel and behave like real hair, letting you curl, straighten and style as you would normally.
The Great Lengths application methods consist of:
• Classic Fusion - Natural and undetectable
The original system when released was the talk of the industry and sparked a worldwide fashion phenomenon. This tried and tested single strand heat based application system has established Great Lengths as the world's leading extensions brand. Results are incredible – thorough hair coverage with undetectable and comfortable extensions.
• Cold Fusion - Gentle and desirable
Following on from the success of the Classic Fusion system, Great Lengths added Cold Fusion to the range. Again, a single strand application system and just as resilient. Cold Fusion produces small flat and cylinder bonds so hair will look and feel totally natural. Using ultrasound technology, Cold Fusion uses virtually no heat and produces the same amazing results while offering further protection to those with finer, heat sensitive hair.
Q. Will hair extensions make me bald?
A. If applied correctly and by a professional extensionist, hair extensions will not cause any baldness whatsoever. It is also important to follow the aftercare advise which should be given to you by your extensionist - one of which is to brush your hair on a daily basis to avoid matting which can put pressure on the bonds of the extensions and cause them to rip off when brushing.
Q. Will they damage my hair?
A. Human Hair Extensions such as Great Lengths will not damage your hair as they use bonds that are pH neutral which is kind to both hair and scalp, which means they won’t damage your hair. Again, it is important to follow the aftercare advise and to use the approved aftercare products to ensure that both your hair and the hair extensions remain in great condition. I've had clients tell me that their own hair condition improved since having Great Lengths hair extensions - which is all down to the quality of the bonds and the fact that the clients are brushing their hair more often.
Q. Can I wash and style as normal?
A. Avoid using everyday haircare that can affect the bonds and cause them to break down. Many hair extension brands have their own ranges to help you maintain your extensions. Great Lengths aftercare range are pH balanced to restore your hair and scalp to its natural pH balance and improve the durability of your locks.
Q. How much should I expect to pay?
A. This all depends on your individual requirements and how many extensions which are applied. Expect to pay from £300 for half a head of Great Lengths Extensions and from £650 for a full head.
Q. How long will they last?
A. If you follow the aftercare maintenance advise given and look after your hair, they should last up to 4 months - sometimes longer, but I always advise my clients to have them removed after 4 months and a new set applied.
Q. How long does my hair have to be to have them fitted?
A. The crown area of your hair needs to be long enough to be able to cover the bonds when applied so, basically, your hair on the top section should reach your nape. If it doesn't then I always advise clients to wait for their hair to grow until they reach this point. This season’s trends with hair extensions
Lots of "volume" and “bouncy hair” is in!!! No longer will you be burning your hair with the straightening iron to get that poker straight look which is out! Instead, we want that bouncy, natural and big hair and lots of it too!! Don't worry if you don't have this type of hair as with Great Lengths hair extensions you can create the most amazing and luscious locks. If you're one of these girls who isn't good with maintaining long hair then that's OK too as its the “unkept” look that we will be seeing more of on the catwalk. To achieve this look just plait your extensions before going to bed and let it down in the morning for that perfect “boho” look.
