Shaking Up Your Hair With the Colours of 2011
There are a myriad of ways in which we can instantly change our
appearance, whether it is through purchasing a new wardrobe, utilising
accessories or even adopting a new attitude. However, one of the most effective
ways in which to change our appearance and our confidence is through changing
our hair. For many, their hair is their number one accessory and when their
hair looks good, they feel good.
As slaves to the celebrity world, we can often become overwhelmed
with the many new haircuts that come off the catwalk every season and wish to
have the confidence or even the money to invest in a similar style for
ourselves. Whether it is comfort or simply a feeling of fear, many may refrain
from taking the plunge with a new hairstyle which inevitably, means their hair
will always look the same. Nevertheless, adopting a new hair colour is not only
a great way in which to dramatically change the look of your hair ad overall
appearance, but could also be the one thing that helps you may that leap from
safe to stunning hair.
2011 hair colours are all about throwing out old trends in order
to introduce new trends into the hair industry. As fashion witnesses new and
outrageous styles, the same can be said for hair colour, as more wild and vivid
colours arrive on the catwalk and within salons. In fact, it is on the catwalk
where we will see some of the most dramatic hair colour changes that show that
when it comes down to contemplating a change of colour, the simple mantra is to
just do it.
Supermodel Abbey Lee Kershaw has been recognised as one of the
first supermodels of the moment to dramatically change her hair colour in 2011.
Originally sporting mousy-brown locks, Kershaw was happy to commit up to 8
hours in the salon in order to own near-platinum blonde locks. This was not
just a subtle change, more a complete overhaul of her look that has helped her to
look more editorial. Fellow model Natasha Poly made a similar change, following
a comment at her model agency that she needed a new, fresh look for the new
season. As a result, Poly changed her
Russian, honey-blonde locks to a rich, dark brown that helped her to stand out
from the crowd on the catwalk. Keeping her eyebrows blonde and light, her look
is both complimentary and edgy.
One of the most shocking, and celebrated colour changes in fashion
of late, has been Lily Cole’s transformation from gorgeous redhead to dark
vixen which is by far, one of the most dramatic style changes in fashion this
year. Where Cole made her change successful was that she remembered to team her
newly darkened tresses with matching eyebrows for a completely seamless look.
Sporting an on-trend fringe to compliment her new colour and frame her face,
Lily soon become an inspiration to fellow redheads who had been wishing to make
a similar dramatic change to their hair.
With so many inspirations, it can be hard to decipher which colour
will be best to suit your hair, skin tone and general style. Although the above
catwalk changes can show how you can easily transition from one colour to the
next, it is always a good idea to consider a number of different, similar
shades that differ in hue. This way, you will not only have a colour that you
like, but one that will complement your face well. Before changing your hair dramatically,
it is always advantageous to ask the advice of your stylist. Not only can they
ensure that your colour suits you, but they can also ensure that the process is
done expertly, ensuring full coverage and brilliant, beautiful colour.
