Tips And Ideas For Styling Your Hair On Your Big Day!

It is every woman’s dream to look beautiful on her wedding day. This means getting the dress, the makeup, the accessories and the hair right. You want the whole look to work together so it is best to choose your wedding hairstyle after first choosing the dress. Once you have chosen the perfect dress, this will give you an idea of what overall look you are going for. You don’t want to choose a simple, elegant dress and then ruin it with an over-the-top dramatic hair style. This will look all wrong and more importantly you won’t look or feel your best on your special day.

When choosing a hairstyle or cut for everyday wear you or your stylist will first consider what best suits your face shape, and it should be no different when it comes to bridal hair. First you need to work out what face shape you actually are. Most people will have a general idea about this but if you’re not sure try tracing the outline of your face in a mirror. Once you’ve done this you need to think about what hair style will best suit the shape of your face; will show off your best features and disguise things you’re not so keen on.

If you have a long face, it is a good idea to add width at the sides of your head by bringing down a few wispy strands of hair forward to sit just in front of the ears. This will soften your look as well as complimenting your bone structure. You should avoid building the hair up too high in the head as this can accentuate the length of your face. Instead try wearing a bun that sits at the back of the head, rather than on tip as this will help to balance out long features.

If you have a round face you will want to slim it down and one way of doing so is to build height on the top of the head. You can do this with a topknot or a curly bun as this will create the effect of a more shapely face. This look is great for the shorter lady as it will also add a little extra height.

For those heart-shaped faced ladies you can make your face look less angular by creating some width at the chin with a sharp bob or some waves that finish at the chin level.

It is a good idea to decide on a wedding hair style well in advance of the day as you may need to grow or colour your hair, this also gives your stylist the chance to experiment and practice your chosen look. If you already have long hair then there are lots of options to choose from. You can wear your hair up in a tight topknot for an elegant look or worn around the face to add softness. You could try a half up half down look or add curls to give a romantic, old fashioned look. If you want a modern look you can wear the hair long and sleek; with long hair the options really are endless!

With shorter hair there are less options but this isn’t to say that all brides must grow their hair! Short hair can look stunning on your wedding day and a short style means you can really make the most of hair accessories. Try hair pins and combs to add sparkle or keep it simple with a few flowers in your hair. Alternatively, if you fancy a new look for your wedding day; why not try hair extensions so you can have all the options of a longer hairstyle without the need to wait for your locks to grow!
