Long Hair Care Tips
There are many steps involved when learning how to care for long hair. Just like short hair, long hair will have some maintenance methods that are unique to its length. But no matter the hair length some hair care tips remain the same such as drinking plenty of water, eating healthy and getting plenty of vitamins and nutrients, specifically biotin are all important to keep your hair healthy and looking great.Caring for long hair actually involves less maintenance then short hair. You do not have to wash long hair as frequently as short hair. Long hair needs to absorb the oil produced from your scalp. When you brush your hair you spread this oil through the strands and washing your hair too frequently can even cause over production of oil because you are stripping your scalp of oil in proportion to the amount of hair you have. Keeping your hair moisturized is important as dry hair breaks very easily.
Long hair shouldn't be brushed more then twice a day and you should use a good quality vent brush. Adding some jojoba oil the night before you wash it is a great way to moisturize. Just braid your hair after distributing the oil and it the jojoba oil will work as a great conditioner.
When choosing a shampoo and conditioner you need to chose the one that is best for your scalp price and that fits your budget. There is nothing the matter with brand name hair care products. Moisturizing shampoos are great if you have very dry skin. When shampooing you should only shampoo your scalp and not the length of your hair as this will strip away the much needed oils. Lightweight conditioners should be used regularly. You can use a deep conditioner about once a month or if your hair is feeling particularly dry.
After washing your hair you should never brush it as this is when the most damage occurs as wet hair is much more fragile then dry hair. Use a long toothed comb to detangle your hair and if you must blow dry it then use a product to protect against heat damage.
You can also get product build up in your hair that will make your shampoo or conditioner ineffective. Rinsing your hair in vinegar is a quick and easy way tot get rid of any product build up. You should let the vinegar sit on your hair for about 5 minutes before rinsing out. If you have blond hair you can also do a rinse with chamomile tea to add extra shine. For darker hair apple cider vinegar
