Can I Colour My Hair Extensions?
As women, we love nothing more than to pamper ourselves and spoil ourselves on items and beauty products which leave us feeling gorgeous and looking like a million dollars. Hair extensions allow us to change our hair in just a mere few hours, taking us from short, shaggy hair to long, luxurious locks. In the vast majority of cases, women will opt for a colour which is as similar to their natural hair colour as possible, or with the advice of their hair extension specialist, will opt for a mixture of two to three colours which will blend together for a natural finish. However, as hair extensions typically last around 4-6 months when cared for correctly, those who are lovers of changing they hair colour and thus style frequently, may be put off by hair extensions at the risk that they will either have to suffer with the same colour for a long period of time; or face an expensive decision to take the extensions out in a desperate bid to change their hair again.
There are two types of hair extensions on the market-real and synthetic. In order to have hair which can be treated like your normal hair and which will offer you versatility, real hair is the choice for you. It is also perfect for those who feel they will want to change the colour of their extensions at some point. As it can be treated like your real hair, you can in actual fact colour your hair extensions. However, in order to do this effectively you will firstly need to have cared for your hair a great deal to ensure that it is of a good condition and will not require being re-done before you colour it. If you are considering colouring your hair extensions, the first thing you should do it consult your hair extensions specialist. Never attempt to colour them yourself using the typical hair dye kits you would usually use as the chemicals in these could cause damage to the hair itself and the bonds which attach your extensions. By consulting your stylist, you will not only be provided with expertly applied colour which will look fantastic, but you will also be safe in the knowledge that your extensions are in good hands. You can also have monthly touch up on your roots as the extensions are not applied right up to the scalp, meaning that when touching up your roots, your extensions won’t be touched.
