Hair extensions are so popular nowadays as they can help you change your image in an instant. The notion that you can step into a salon as one person and a few hours later leave looking like someone completely different is a real incentive for most women. In person are the staff welcoming, friendly and competent at what they are doing? The staff need to be professional at all times; this includes manner and dress code.
When you have hair extensions fitted you could be sitting in the chair anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on the attachment technique. We can all appreciate that this is a big chunk of time and as the salon will be your ‘home’ for the next few hours it is important that you are made to feel comfortable. Any little extras that will make your time in the salon more enjoyable will enhance your experience. Look out for things such as food and drinks, magazines and comfortable chairs. Hopefully you should be able to make good conversation with the stylist, if not it goes to show that they don’t really care about you and the job they are doing for you.
An uncomplicated price structure will make the consultation stage go a lot smoother. Most clients will not have a clue about the price the salon is offering before the consultation period and things could then change between the consultation and the fitting which can cause alarm. An uncomplicated price structure says to the customer that the salon has confidence in the service they are providing and encourages them to do the same.
Make sure the salon has a good hair inventory. They should be well-stocked with hair at all times for several different reasons. Firstly this means that the client can have a consultation and a fitting in the same day- quite rare. It also allows the client to literally get a feel for the hair by holding it and allows the stylist to make a good colour match. As hair is not cheap, as a client you really want to make sure that you are getting the right colour and texture of hair.
