How to Choose the Right Hair Extensions for You

Many of us often have that one time where we often wish our hair looked different, more ‘in’, or just better. For some this, may be an occasional time which is often when they are faced with the mother of all bad hair days, for others, it may be a monthly or even weekly occurrence where they dislike their hair but are too scared to take the plunge and try something new and drastic. One thing which many of us often wish we could change in an instant is the length of our hair. Depending on your personal style and lifestyle may heavily determine what kind of style you prefer overall, but the way in which our hair is styles-including its length, can rapidly change the way in which we feel about ourselves. It is for this reason that many women are opting for hair extensions as a way to shake up their look and try something different-without having to wait years for their own hair to grow!

Hair extensions are in effect, an investment. They cost more money than you would care to spend on shampoo and require maintenance in order to keep them looking beautiful and natural; but for many, the feeling they get when heads turn and they are left feeling much better about their appearance in general is better than any price tag. Saying this, hair extensions are now much more affordable than many perceive them to be, which makes this dream all the easier to become a reality. If you are contemplating the idea of getting hair extension, there are a few things you should take into account before going ahead with them.

Firstly, be aware that there are two different types of extensions-real and synthetic. Depending on what your needs from the hair are and what expectations you have will heavily determine on which ones you choose to have, but many opt for real hair as these are much more versatile and look a lot more natural than synthetic. There are different ways in which extensions can be applied, but these are usually done with bonds which are a type of glue which are rubbed onto your natural hair in order to attach the extensions. The formulas for these offer a cleaner, easier way of removing the extensions without damaging your natural hair.

Once you have decided that you would like to go for extensions, visit your local hair extension salon and enquire to speak with their specialist. Discussing what your expectations and wish for the final look are, they will be able to advise you on the type, colour and length you should look at in order to get the best results. Once you have decided on a style, ask about the price and any maintenance that you will need to do yourself in order to keep them looking great for as long as possible. It is important after your trip to the salon to follow this advice as closely as possible as this is the difference between needing maintenance after 4-6 months and having repeat visits.

Hair extensions offer us long, glossy hair with very little pain and time-it’s no wonder why so many of us are flocking to our salons dreaming of gorgeous hair worthy of any catwalk-or local high street!
