Thinking of a new style? Hair Extensions are your answer

Hair extensions can be worn by pretty much anyone. They are the perfect way to dramatically improve your look and change the way you feel about yourself. They can give you more confidence and complete your look, but with so many options on the market today, which ones do you opt for?

There are two forms of hair extensions; synthetic and human hair. The differences between the two of these are extremely vast. The first difference is the price as synthetic hair extensions are generally less expensive than human hair and they are available in a range of colours and textures. Human hair on the other hand is available in what is known as different grades and is usually advertised by ethnic origin. India, China and other Asian countries are the top suppliers for 'virgin€™ or unprocessed hair. Eastern European countries are the source of 'Caucasian' hair.

There are many different types of human hair extensions available such as the following:

€ Yaki - Bone straight, usually mimicking the straightness of Asian hair
€ European - More natural-looking straight hair. May have a tiny amount of wave
€ Deep Wave - While generally not a true 'wave,€™ it can be made to look like spiral curls
€ Loose Deep Wave or Romance Wave - Looser version of the deep wave, softer, more romantic curls
€ Wet and Wavy - Can be packaged as Spanish Wave or Indian Wave. Usually human hair is used, and is either naturally curly or permanently waved to appear so. Characterised as having soft, natural-looking curls that revert back to a curly state when wet.

When you are getting hair extensions it is generally advised to opt for the human hair version. One of the main reasons for this is the fact that synthetic hair extensions are really hard to manage. With synthetic hair extensions you can€™t really style them and you can€™t wash them in the same way as you would your normal hair. With human hair extensions they can be treated as real hair. You are able to wash your hair in the same way and you are free to blow dry and straighten your hair extensions. The only thing I would say is do these things in a more gentle way than you normally do.

As synthetic hair is pretty much made up of plastic it is important that you don€™t style your extensions using heat as this would simply melt your extensions. If your hair extensions are made up of a mixture of synthetic hair and human hair then they should be treated extremely gently when it comes to using heat styling.

If you are thinking about having hair extensions applied then it is important that you only approach a salon with past experience in dealing with the application and removal of hair extensions. You should speak to your stylist about the process of having hair extensions applied so that you know exactly what is involved.
