Hair Extensions: How are they Attached?
Thanks to many of the gorgeous celebrities we see in our glossy magazines such as Cheryl Cole, Peaches Geldof and Paris Hilton, we have all learnt how we too can have long, gorgeous locks in just a few short hours. However, if you are looking into investing in some real hair extensions, it is a good idea to not only educate yourself on the different types of extensions which are available at the hair extension specialist salons which are close to you; but also at the different methods of attaching the hair which are available and which will be best for your requirements. Of course, it is always best to ask the professional opinion of your stylist, but by researching first, you can be completely sure that hair extensions are the right choice for you. Depending on the type of hair you choose to have, the length of natural hair you have and the method of application will determine how long it will take for your hair to be applied, but below you will find a rough guide to how exactly they will be applied.
Firstly, your stylist will divide your hair into four different sections. In most cases, the stylist will leave a small section of hair along the hair line in order to hide the bonds if the wearer decides they wish to style their hair in an ‘up do’. Beginning from the nape of the neck, the stylist will work upwards, attaching the hair using special bonds. Different salons and types of hair extension will have different formulas of bonding formula which will have pros and cons as to why you should go for that particular type. In order to fully cover your head and give you a natural look, you will typically need around 200 bonds and sections of hair extensions in total. Once the stylist has completed, you will have gorgeous, healthy looking hair which will look so beautiful and natural, no one will be able to tell it’s not your real hair-that is, unless you tell them of course!
Some may worry about the match to their natural hair colour being as close as possible. There are a wide range of brands on the market which come in a variety of natural shades. Before your appointment, the stylist will arrange a consultation with you to discuss the length and colour you wish to have, and will match this colour to the most available extensions. In most cases, the stylist may feel that by mixing in some different coloured highlights and lowlights in order to give a textured, gorgeous final look. Don’t be alarmed if your stylish suggests this, as it will be in order to give you the best possible look.
Hair extensions allow us to easily gain long, luscious locks without the pain of waiting years for it to grow. If you are interested in the idea of getting hair extensions but are a little unsure, go into your local hair extension salon and ask to speak to the specialist stylist. They will be able to answer any question you may have, and fill you with confidence that the finished look will look great. Soon, you will find yourself swishing down the high street with more than a few admirers!
