What is SkinPen?

SkinPen is a leading microneedling device that uses Collagen Induction Therapy to create temporary microscopic channels in your skin. This process activates your body’s natural skin-healing power to increase collagen and elastin production, for a healthier and more youthful appearance – and the confidence to feel comfortable in your own skin. As well as tackling fine lines and wrinkles, SkinPen has also proven to be found helpful in restoring the pigmentation concerns often associated with conditions like melasma, vitiligo and sun or age spots.

How does the SkinPen treatment work?

Collagen and elastin are the essential protein fibres in the skin that provide support and elasticity. As we age, these fibres break down – which in turn leads to fine lines, wrinkles, sagging, and enlarged pores.

By regenerating collagen and elastin, we can jumpstart the anti-ageing process and fight these concerns, for a more youthful appearance.

Collagen also plays a key role in scars, such as those caused by acne, and in pigmentation concerns. Skin remodelling with Skinpen can dramatically reduce the appearance of these conditions.

What happens during a SkinPen treatment?

To assure maximum comfort during the treatment, a topical anaesthetic is applied to the area being treated. This will provide a light numbing sensation. A hydrating gel is then applied to the treatment area to reduce friction, for easy gliding and enhanced comfort. The SkinPen Precision tool is then used to create thousands of controlled and microscopic microchannels in the skin, which generate your body’s natural wound-healing capabilities. This process works at the site of the treatment to remodel the tissue and create new collagen and elastin. Finally, the Rescue Calming Complex is applied post-procedure to soothe and protect the skin with a breathable barrier.

How long does a SkinPen treatment take?

The treatment takes as little as 30 minutes, but a course of procedures may be recommended based on your individual goals. Maintenance of the procedure may also require multiple treatments.

Does SkinPen microneedling hurt?

A numbing cream is applied to your skin to ensure the process is comfortable.

Who is SkinPen microneedling suitable for?

SkinPen is suitable for all skin tones and types. It’s perfect for anyone with concerns around fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, and pigmentation conditions like melasma, vitiligo and sun or age spots.

Is there any downtime with a SkinPen treatment?

SkinPen is a quick and easy process, with little to no downtime. Your skin will appear slightly pink to red immediately after the procedure, similar to a light sunburn.
