Which Hair Extensions Are Right For Me?

It’s important to us that when you leave Inanch London, you feel like a million dollars. That’s why we’ve put together this simple guide to getting the right extensions for you.

Pre-Bonded Polymer Hair

A classic technique which gives the most natural looking results.

All hair types except those with damaged or over-processed hair. Very discreet and comfortable when applied correctly. Low maintenance. Greater styling options - can also wear your hair up.

Using the same density from the client's own hair as per individual strands, the polymer bond is gently fused on to the client's own hair to create a strong bond that holds the extensions in place.

Providing that the aftercare guide is followed, the extensions can last up to 4 months with little to no salon maintenance requirement. Hair extensions must be professionally removed by a qualified stylist to avoid any damage at removal.

Strands of hair tipped with polymer bonds (also referred to as keratin or protein bonds) that are attached to a client's own hair using a hot or cold fusion application tool.

Use sulphate-free shampoos and conditioners. Brush with a soft bristle brush on a daily basis. Keep heating tools away from the bonds. Tie your hair in a loose ponytail or plait before sleeping.

Micro Rings

No heat. Uses small beads to attach the extensions to the client’s hair.

Most hair types apart from those with very slick hair because of the chance of the rings slipping. Great for thicker hair and those who are on a budget as the hair can be re-used.

The extensions have a tip which is shaped like a shoe-lace tip and is threaded in to a micro ring. The ring is then clamped shut with a closing tool. The ring is simply unclamped during removal.

Around 3-4 months although they will require to be moved closer to the scalp at 2 months otherwise the rings may become noticeable. Hair can be re-used depending on how well the hair extensions have been looked after.

Small beads (also known as links or loops) that are attached strand-by-strand to a client’s own hair. Beads come in micro or nano sizes for finer hair and coated with silicone for more comfort.

Avoid use of oils or slick products near the scalp to avoid slippage. Brush daily at the scalp. Shampoo, condition and blow dry as normal but avoid the rings when using hair straighteners or curling tongs.

Taped Hair

Quick and easy application. Hair can be re-used.

Adding some thickness. Length or colour contrasts. Great for those who have limited time and are also on a budget. Good introduction to hair extensions.

The wefts are taped to your hair by sandwiching small sections of your hair between 2 pieces of weft and then gently clamped with a closing tool.

6-8 weeks depending on how often you shampoo your hair and how well you look after the extensions. Hair can then be re-used with fresh tapes being applied at the salon.

Adhesive wefts (also known as skin wefts) that hold a thin strip of hair strands with translucent tape on one side.

Avoid using oily styling products at the attachment. Use oil-free shampoos. Brush on a daily basis with a soft bristle brush. Keep heating tools away from the adhesive area of the wefts.

Volumizers

Customised hair mesh and integration system.

Those who have fine or thinning hair on top and unable to have other hair extension methods.

Applied with the micro-rings clamping technique to safely secure the mesh on to the client's head. No chemicals used.

The customised hair mesh should last up to 1 year if looked after properly. The client will need to return to the salon every 4-6 weeks to have the hair re-adjusted.

A customised hair mesh made from a silk and lace base.

Shampoo, condition and style your hair as normal but be careful around the top section of your head where the micro beads are positioned. Always return to the salon for your maintenance checks.

Clip-Ins

Quick, easy and do it yourself.

Occasional use such as parties and weddings. Great for adding instant length, thickness and splashes of colour. Low-maintenance.

Simply clipped on to client's own hair from underneath and then blended with own hair: For the best results, the clip-ins should initially be fitted by a stylist and customised (trimmed/coloured).

Depending on the quality of the clip-ins and how often they are worn and washed, these should last for at least 1-2 years.

A weft of hair attached with secure clips. Available as a single full head piece or as individual strips of hair pieces.

Gently wash and condition periodically with sulphate-free products. Always brush before and after use before putting them away. Can be curled or straightened but avoid frequent use of heating tools.
